In the early eighties I went Sunday School at St Paul's in Harris Park. I dug up some inspiration from this area. Rosella
Park nearby, where my brother and I enjoyed skateboarding, takes its name from
the locally named parakeet.
The
parable of Jesus being the true vine is the subject of this work. Delivered in
John 15, after the Last Supper, the form of a bowl and cup is unintentional but
perhaps appropriate. With Jesus as the vine we cannot separate our conduct from
him. Bearing the best fruit is the goal of an artist. We need to beware those
vines not true.
